I am happy to say that I am still alive, but I am shocked at how many of this class has died.  I am from the class of 69, I do not think as many of us have died yet!
As for my life...I am happily married and have been for 24 years. We have two children together, both grown. I also have a son, my husband helped  raise. We have Two grandchildren, and hope for more.

15 Years ago I was reunited with my son I gave up for adoption, Michael is 39, we have a wonderful relationship. I have also raised one foster son and my neice and two nephews.  We currently live in Medford Oregon. We also lived in Hauser Lake Idaho for 13 year,  I hate sub zero, cold weather!!!!!  It is our dream to live on the coast for retirement, probably Crescent City, Ca..   I am currently in good health but did have cancer 12 years ago.  My cousin (Colleen DiNardo) and I, have tenative plans to attend this reunion as our class seems to not be planning one or if they are they haven't told us, of course it would be a year off.

Single Again 2012-07-11 19:46:20
I moved to the San Juan Islands 25 years ago. I came to kayak, and breath clean air. I ran my own kayak business -- day tours.  I also made wire twist jewelry, a trade I learned while traveling in South America. On an island this small, 56 square miles with less than 5000 full time residents, there are a number of Willow Glen alumni and one former teacher at Willow Glen [after our time]. I work as a Para Educator, that's a Teacher's Aide in the old non-PC world, in the local elementary school. Now I have summers off, that works for me! I go by "just" Marie Hilje, now. Enjoying life now, laughing now is pretty important. Maybe a little political work, enjoy a little music, how great to combine the 2! I make cartoons - frame by frame. I made one for the kids at school - Kindergarten this year, they wrote the text and I used images and photos of them and the playground to illustrate their "book". Kindergarten age is fun and demanding. I am now working on an adult cartoon - NO, not "adult" it is still rated: G, but it is of more interest to me and probably to you. Should be finished by Winter and I will post it on youtube then.  Search Hilje cartoon. I love telling a story with pictures -- they were my first language, English came second, then Spanish.

It was terrific to see so many people at the reunion.  I've posted some pictures from the reunion at this location:

Don

After graduating from high school, I majored in philosophy at U.C. Davis and went to graduate school in philosophy at the University of Arizona (Tucson).  In 1977, I took an assistant professor position at The Ohio State University.  I've been at OSU ever since then, with a visiting professor stint at the University of Pittsburgh.

I was married in 1975 and had three children:  Kate, Dan, and David.  My wife and I separated in 1993.  As a result of my divorce expriences, I became something of a divorce reform advocate, writing about the ways in which our current legal practices run roughshod over parents'--especially fathers'--rights and their relationship with their children.

I was remarried to my current wife, Julie, in 1995 and, since then, also have two step-children:  Lindsay and Leslie.

A couple of years ago, I became Chair of the Philosophy Department at OSU.  It has its ups and downs but, all-in-all, I'd rather be doing more teaching and less administrivia.

This will be the first class reunion I've ever gone to.  I've now resolved to go to one every 40 years.

Sorry I missed the reunion.  It sounded like a lot of fun.  I graduated from San Jose State with a degree in Philosophy and a second degree in Political Theory.  Got my JD at Santa Clara University.  Didn't do the law thing.  Ran a teenage sports  camps for 5 years, was a business consultant for another 5 years and have been happily teaching high school (economic and law) in Santa Cruz for 26 years.  I love to travel, ride my motorcycle and take pictures.  Also love to workout.  Was married for 20 years and have two incredible kids 27 and 28 and a grandson!  Life is good and getting better.  Age and wisdom are highly under rated.

After reading Frank's review of the Reunion I had to add my 2 cents worth.  What a great time!  Seeing old friends (Rita came after being MIA!  Pattie and I were so excited to see her.) and making friends with familiar faces that at this time in my life I'm not sure I knew well or just "think" I knew well.  In any event, keeping up with friends via email now makes me feel like I've known them very well all along.  That's awesome.  Many many thanks to the committee for all their hard work....it showed.  I heard a rumor of doing this every 5 years now - count me in!  Oh yeah, and thanks Steve for keeping my wine glass full on Friday night.....no one could ask for a better high school boyfriend - 40 years later!  AND....what a great song you wrote - straight from the heart and so close to ours.  The Ram Jam Band was great too....I vote for the same type of format we had this reunion....much more casual and intimate....no stuffy ballroom with our "Sunday best" on...who can beat flip flops and shorts right?  Do you think we can get LaVilla to cater?

Hi all.  For the last 19 years I’ve been living in the Sacramento area.  I just recently bought a house in Lincoln.  I wanted to downsize from my large house with the pool that no one visits anymore cuz they all have their own houses and their own pools – now I visit them!  I have two boys from my first marriage – Rick (34) and Michael (31).  Rick lives in “midtown” Sacramento with his long time girlfriend Cori and Michael lives in Lincoln with his wife Becky, two step-children (Matteson 9 and Tyler 12) and their daughter, Keira (5 months).  I have a step-daughter from my second marriage who lives close by in Rocklin and two granddaughters – Victoria – almost 12 and Sophia – 1.  Grandchildren are the best and I am so fortunate to have them near me.  I’ve been working as a legal secretary since I was 19 – holy cow that’s a long time!  It pays the bills but isn’t making me rich so I will be working for awhile.  I’m envious of those of you who have actually retired.  I enjoy reading what everyone’s doing….such a diverse crowd.

I have lived with my husband and 2 daughters (Katy and Jenna) in San Luis Obispo County for the past 42 years. Currently in Los Osos on a small acreage where my husband and I retired. We raise olives for oil and my husband is a glassblower. Currently one daughter lives at home and helps with the farm, the other has a job and lives in San Francisco.
