Wow, I'm glad Ron Kooyman let me know about the upcomming event.  I missed the last few while vacationing.  After WG. Off I went to San Jose State then Santa Clara for grad school and off to San Francisco Culinary school. Spent the next 15 years building up my family's restaurant business.   After selling the  restaurant chain (you might remember the Cookbook restaurant in the Pruneyard)  we ended up with 8 of those.  I had moved our coorperate office to Lake Tahoe and stayed there after the sale of the chain. I lived their til I met and married my best friend 22 years ago. Took a year off to travel and surf. I forced my self to work a few meaningless jobs.  It seemed my wife like to eat.  My wife informed me it was time to grow up so I entered the mortgage business. I did well bought some investment properties and became a sales trainer and sales manager.   Washington Mutual decided to exit the loan business last year. So I took the retirement package and went surfing for a month.   I'm not ready to retire yet still have some mountains I want to climb. I was offerd a simular position GMAC mortgage. I  decided not to manage anymore .Now I just manage myself,  and annoy my boss who used to work for me.  I am back the Pruneyard  again you can find me daydreaming about surfing in the large tower.  I am with GMAC mortgage office there. Still teaching Real-estate finance at City College and grilling with our catering company when needed.  I live in Willow Glen and run mornings on the Willow Glen Track Stop by my office any time I have a tab at the Rock Bottom across the parking lot

As most of you know, I moved "over the hill" right after high school.  Lived in Santa Cruz, San Juan Bautista, Watsonville, and back to Santa Cruz.  Unfortunately, I moved back to San Jose and have been here  living and working ever since.  See you all at the reunion!

After graduation, I headed off to college studying Biology at San Jose State and Entomology at U.C. Davis. Believe it or not, I worked for five years as a research entomologist for both the U.S. Government and Dow Chemical before deciding that my destiny was not with pesticides...

My time in Davis exposed me to the world of wine, captivating my interest in science, agriculture and art. I switched careers. I was Ravenswood's very first sales person, directed the national sales and marketing for Chalk Hill, founded and sold a wine distribution company and now run Klinker Brick Winery. During my tenure at Chalk Hill, I had the great fortune to meet and marry a wonderful man, an anti-trust lawyer whose practice was national in scope though the firm he founded was based in Indianapolis. I moved to the Midwest to marry and lived there nearly twenty-years until he passed away in 2001. We left no stone unturned, traveling the world together. Our daughter, Elizabeth, was recruited to play soccer at Stanford University and graduated two years ago. I returned to California in 2002, living in Los Gatos and getting away, when I can, to my home up at the Sea Ranch.

I still play the piano, love to fly fish and of course, enjoy great food and fabulous wine!

September 08, 1950 Single Again 2018-06-11 16:54:29
It's that time again. Not sure if I'm coming this time. After caring of my mother for 12 years, I sold my house in WG and moved to Oregon where I'm from. My only son came with me but 3 weeks later he chose to take his life. I found him the next morning and am still grieving.

The reunion was a blast!!!
I had so much fun. What a great class of '68 you all are. Wished I wasn't so shy in school. There are a lot of people that I wish I would have known then. The Ram Jam Band was so much fun too. For a month, we were kids again back in HS practicing in Paul's garage. I hope we brought a little bit of your youthful past back and just a little bit of the rebellious times too.

Thank you to everyone on the committee for their outstanding job of putting this extraordinary event together. Your hard work really showed on both days. I love this website and reading about everyone's extraordinary lives. You guys are awesome!!! Miss you all. Until the next reunion...God Bless

Contrary to popular belief, Ed Krohn and I did not marry after graduation. We had broken up within a year. I attended SJCC majoring in physical education, but changed my major after a year to dental assisting. I graduated in ’71 and obtained a California CDA license, continued my education and then eventually obtained an RDA license. Was on the road to find out when I happened to take a class in yoga. It led me to a turning point in my life…becoming a Christian. I moved into an ashram. There I was a vegetarian, a yoga instructor, and I helped manage a health food store and restaurant. I learned about herbs, vitamins and other dietary supplements, and that experience took me full circle to where I am now. I manage a vitamin supplement store in downtown Willow Glen. Just before the 10-year reunion, I married and was working my way up the ladder of success at Bullocks. The marriage didn’t last long. I ended up spending over 10 years in the dental field, all the time dreaming of my own business. I returned to school, attended SFEC, and earned an electrolysis license in ’83. After graduation, I worked in SF for 1½ years as an independent contractor. My son, Kamran, was born New Year’s Eve ’84. In November ’85 I opened an electrolysis office in Half Moon Bay that I operated for six years. I closed the business after being injured in a car accident that put me in a back brace for a long time. I also was a Interior Craft Designer in five retail stores for over 10 years. After becoming an empty-nester, I applied to law school and got accepted to JFK, but was unable to find the funds to go. Today I manage the vitamin store and take care of my elderly mother. I love to sing. I have a sixteen year old cat Porsche, named after my first car. My son, now age 23, resides in Fremont. I have been in a committed relationship for four years. And looking forward to seeing all again!

The class of ’68 is a diverse, unique and independent group which is quite evident when reading the bios. Our class has not lost its love for the beach and mountains!

I enjoyed nearly every minute of high school and I appreciated everyone’s unique personality. I always tried to bring out the best in every person I hung out with. Most of the time I was shy in high school, loved listening to music (Beatles, Beach Boys and Brubeck), had a crush on a girl named Barbara, loved a girl named Terri (class of ’69), rebuilt wrecked cars with a neighbor buddy (wish we still owned the ’67 Cobra), and finally came out of my shell during my senior year -- gaining popularity by giving away free handwriting analysis after taking a course in graphology.

After graduation, I attended San Jose State and earned a degree in PR/Marketing and married Sandy Bergman (Pioneer Class of '68). We have two daughters, Tami and Kim.  We have four grandkids: Zachary, Michael, Danielle, and Nathan.

I was fortunate to become Memorex Corporation’s youngest executive in 1972 as its communications  specialist and worked on the "Is it live, or is it Memorex" commercial with Ella Fitzgerald. In 1978, we hired 28 unique individuals and together we published 30 special interest magazines.  In 1982 we started a new company devoted to producing community newspapers: Evergreen Times, followed by Almaden Times, Blossom Valley Times, Willow Glen Times, and Campbell Times.

In 2007, I was fortunate to meet the engineer who designed and developed the 286 motherboard for the PC and the  Internet telephone. Together we co-founded two green tech companies. Our mission is to produce clean, free energy using a sub-atomic particle known as k-meson. We believe the new technology can take any home off the electric grid using two car batteries -- no fossil fuels! The same technology could also power cars, boats, trains and planes! There are also humanitarian benefits -- such as water purification and desalinizaton for third world countries. I want to thank Ron and JoAnn Kooyman for believing in our clean free energy dream.

Looking back, there are classmates with strong personality traits that helped make me a better person.   Corky Black -- Leadership;  Ed Berwick -- Mind over matter;   Ron Kooyman -- Unconditional support; Don Hubin -- Quick wit; Billie Parker -- Activism; Kathy Barnes --Optimism; Jeanne Butterfield -- Caring spirit; Susie Hoffman -- Laughter; Rayna Eisenstadt -- Love of life; Ronnie Seward -- Can do attitude; Jay Wilson -- CommitmentPaul Trapani -- Look cool...be cool; Jerry Valadez -- perseverance.

I enjoy beachcombing, hiking in Yosemite,  auto racing, and composing music.

I look forward seeing everyone again at our next gathering in 2018!

  • Back when I was 14, at Edwin Markham, I was wearing Levi’s, boots, and a “Let’s Legalize Pot” pin
  •
  • to now
  •
  • wearing Levi’s, flip flops, and a smile on my face.
then, as now, I read asian philosophy - the iChing, zen, ...
  •
  • I guess my motto is, “chop wood, carry water”
  •
  • Back in 67, Mr. Covelle (the vice principal, who replaced Mr. Bondelie) came up to me in Frank Schiavo’s physics class, and asked me why I was sick 3/5ths of the year.
  •
  • I told him it was psychsomatic - school made me sick.
  •
  • In real life, I’d have my mother call me in sick for a week at a time. I’d work on engines in our back yard under our big oak. I’d play with my friends in San Francisco and Carmel , drop acid, etc. I was never good at sitting behind a desk.
Schiavo pointed out that i got straight As on my attendance program
  • 50 years later, I would still rather be working with my hands and playing with my friends and animals. Lately work has been crazy busy, but I love it - no complaints.
  •
  •
  • It’s been a good ride
but there are mornings, especially at sea or in paradise, where it's 5 o'clock somewhere

or as Garth said, "I'm too young to be this damned old."
  •
  • nevertheless, there’s plenty of energy and interest to keep me going a lot longer.
  •
  • If I had it to do over again, I would have done more - broken more rules, worked harder, played harder
